SpatialRules® is a Complex Event Processing (CEP) engine for geospatial data.
Streams of data from sensors and collection systems outpace the human capacity to detect and respond to rapidly changing conditions. SpatialRules® increases the fidelity of real-time collections by providing the means to separate high-value conditions from the “noise”. This increases the utilization of data without over tasking analysts, operators and watch officers.
SpatialRules® continuously inspects the location and time aspects of the data as it is collected. Relevant events are correlated across multiple data streams to form a more complete view of what’s happening, allowing patterns of movement and conditions of interest to be detected.
As a service-oriented (SOA) middleware solution, SpatialRules® is ideally positioned to connect systems, software, and applications based on location and temporal relevance.
The volumes of data pouring into defense, homeland security, and intelligence systems are overwhelming to both systems and users. Sharing information between systems based on location and time offers a huge advantage for reducing workload on staff as well as critical infrastructures such as systems and networks.
Benefits of Rules-Based Evaluation for Geospatial Data
As a rules-based system, SpatialRules® is used to fully customize the evaluation of data streams. Users and enterprises define rules specific to their mission or business. Incorporating SpatialRules® in tradecraft workflows provides the ability to cross-monitor multiple data sources and enhance 24 x 7 monitoring tasks, freeing users to focus on other challenges or critical events.
Apply Business Intelligence (BI) to Dynamic Data
Designed as a CEP for geospatial data, SpatialRules® can operate on highly dynamic data. This includes detecting how moving objects interact with each other as well as how moving objects relate to borders, checkpoints, areas of responsibility and regions of interest.
Fuse Multiple Data Sources
Correlating multiple data sources is complicated. Creating a relevant picture, in real-time, across layers of sensors, systems and other data sources is extremely challenging. However, SpatialRules® can do just that. By detecting when events in multiple data steams occur at or near the same location, at or near the same time, a multi-sourced picture is formed. SpatialRules® can be used for forensics as well, by applying the rules to historical data sets to reveal object interactions.
Analyze Massive Amounts of Data
The sheer volume of information streaming from sensors and collection platforms is overwhelming. As a result, data goes ignored and underutilized, leading to missed opportunities. SpatialRules® answers the need for increased data utilization by continuously scanning for conditions of interest among millions of moving objects, dynamic events, or static emitters. Use SpatialRules® to monitor territorial waters, shipping lanes, airspace, littoral zones, geofences, and other operational areas that you define in order to get the right information to the right people at the right time.
Create 3D Rules
Rules are defined using 2D and 3D geometries such as points, lines and polygons as well as more complex geometries such as polygons with holes and multi-geometries. 3D geometries define volumes in space and are used to apply rules to threat-domes and airspaces. They can also define regions below ground or under the sea.
Visualize Results
As a service-oriented architecture (SOA), SpatialRules® integrates with any application, with any client. For example, results can be displayed using Google Earth or Google Maps, ESRI mapping clients, or your own custom applications. In cases that do not require a map viewer, or a map view is not practical, results can be streamed to an RSS reader, XML stream, web page, or thick client.
