State and Local Government

State and local governments have long been among the most active users of geospatial data. With front-line responsibility in areas such as land use and planning, taxation, utilities, public safety and emergency response, the ability to access and use geospatial data from a wide range of sources and in a distributed architecture is critical.

State and local governments face unique challenges in managing and utilizing geospatial data. Benefits for governments that successfully meet these challenges include:

  • Effective information sharing across jurisdictions
  • Successful monitoring of high-interest vehicles and infrastructure
  • Efficient management of mobile workers and assets
  • Increased ability to apply for and capture grant funding
  • Better utilization of revenue base and grant funding
  • Improved constituent services

For Example...

State Department of Transportation Application

A state department of transportation customer uses our SpatialFX product in a Web-based application to monitor, track and control assets and personnel deployed to help keep the state's highways safe and moving smoothly. Electronic traffic control signs can be displayed in a geospatial view with the ability to drill down to view location, status, message displayed and other information. From the same Web-based console, managers can manipulate sign messages, view and control sensors, and track the location of mobile "road rangers" who can assist motorists, report incidents and perform other services.
